An ode to my sister Natalie Green on her birthday.
She never shaved her legs when we were younger,
or her armpits for that matter.
It grew so thick like a patch of animal fur.
Until one day a Mary Kay lady had her
wrapped around her corporate claws
and signed her up without a pause.
Natty and her Mary Kay.
A 5th grader with cancer of the bone,
Natty, my hero was bald and frail.
Despite her talents and skills she could not hone
stuck between two hospital bed rails.
She lives today, boom hey!
Singing songs and praising the day.
Lead singer of Pony of Good Tidings.
Natalie, my older/younger soul friend
A surgery gone by, a side effect celebration
With a solid sistership that'll never end
A Christmas miracle, mysterious lactation.
A buddy, a therapist, a partner in crime
All the memories, cherished good times.
Natalie Renae Green.
